Microwave-baked Apples

Try this delicious, heart-healthy treat to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Ingredients

  • 1 Honeycrisp or Jonathon apple
  • 1 ounce of crumbled walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of maple syrup or brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick for decoration

Directions

  1. Core but do not peel the apple.
  2. Leave 1/2 inch of the apple intact on its bottom.
  3. Place the apple in a microwave-safe glass dish.
  4. Mix walnuts, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sweetener together.
  5. Place mixture into the hollow core of the apple.
  6. Cover and microwave on high for 4 minutes.
  7. Place cinnamon stick in core for visual appeal.
