Duration: 1 hour
The health threat posed by the coronavirus pandemic has proved particularly intense for cancer patients, compounding the already stressful task of navigating treatment and the many minefields of vulnerabilities and risks associated with survivorship. While fear and anxiety are common emotional reactions, there are things you can do to help you take care of YOU. In support, we invite you to join us for an inspiring two-part survivorship speaker series for women who are battling or who have battled any form of cancer.
Moderated by Summit Medical Group’s Medical Director of Gynecologic Oncology, Darlene Gibbon, MD, FACOG, our first session Building Emotional Resilience for the Cancer Survivor will be presented by Elizabeth Nikol, DBH, LCSW, A-CBT, behavioral health expert and therapist. Dr. Nikol will discuss how the stressors of the pandemic can impact patients at any point in their journey by taxing their support system and limiting coping resources. She will also discuss various techniques and strategies to help build emotional resilience during this unprecedented time and reduce stress during all stages of treatment and recovery.
This session will be conducted via Zoom. Please register to receive the participation link which will be shared via email on the day of the event. Part 2 of this series is scheduled for October 21. Topic: A Live Cooking Demo: Nutrition for Optimal Immunity. Please check the event listing on this site for details and to register.
