Dr. McCarthy believes in a comprehensive and individualized approach to patient care that values involving the patient in decision making every step of the way. In addition to acute and ongoing treatment, he emphasizes prevention and establishing healthy lifestyle habits. He is passionate about the importance of physical activity and sports participation for children as a staple of a healthy lifestyle. “I’m an advocate for long-term athlete brain health and working to promote safe and lifelong sports participation. In treating sport-related neurological injuries, it’s critical to consider the benefits and significance sports can play in a person’s life in addition to the risks,” says Dr. McCarthy.
When he is not seeing patients, Dr. McCarthy enjoys playing hockey, basketball, and tennis, snowboarding, golfing, running, reading, baking, and hiking with his dog Nino.
