Kristin Cole, LCSW, ACT, has more than 20 years' experience in cognitive behavioral prevention, intervention, and counseling. Her expertise includes counseling for children and adolescents.
Before joining Summit Medical Group, Ms. Cole was a school-based clinician for the Mental Health Association of Essex County in Montclair, New Jersey. She has been a social work volunteer for the Comfort Zone Bereavement Camp in Secaucus, New Jersey. She also has been an associate research scientist for Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City. She is the coauthor of articles and abstracts on preventive measures for at-risk youth and other topics in her field, which are published in peer-reviewed, scientific journals such as Journal of Community Psychology and Preventive Medicine.
Raised in a family that strongly valued helping professions, Ms. Cole notes, "I use cognitive behavioral therapy, a collaborative and solution-focused approach, which offers a high rate of success to patients." She adds, "I listen carefully to my patients so that I can help identify the root of their problems and teach them positive ways to manage them."
Ms. Cole is a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and a member of the National Association of Social Workers and New Jersey Board of Education.
When she is not working with her patients, Ms. Cole enjoys Pilates, reading, and a mindful approach to life.
