Scott Woerner, PhD, ACT, is a licensed psychologist and professional counselor who specializes in treating adolescents and adults with trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), stress, anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, and multicultural concerns.
Before joining Summit Medical Group, Dr. Woerner was a psychology fellow with New York University Counseling and Wellness Services in New York City. He has been an adjunct instructor and clinical supervisor at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.
Dr. Woerner's research interests include trauma, gender role conflict, attachment issues, and multicultural competence. His articles and abstracts on these and related topics are published in Journal of Personality Assessment and The Counseling Psychologist. He has delivered local, regional, national, and international presentations in his field. Dr. Woerner is a member of the American Psychological Association, and a Diplomate at the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.
From his first experience volunteering at the Contact We Care crisis hotline, Dr. Woerner learned about the importance of listening to patients' needs. "I partner with my patients to help them reach balance and reengage in their lives."
When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Woerner enjoys listening to jazz, hiking, the outdoors, and spending time with his family and 2 dogs.
