Patricia Cummins Martinez, MSW, LCSW has worked for over 20 years with high-risk individuals in both community and acute-care settings. Specializing in supportive services, she has expertise in obtaining resources and assistance for patients who have complex medical conditions.
For many years, Ms. Cummins Martinez was employed in a Community Health Center in East Harlem NY, progressing from HIV Prevention Health Educator to the Director of Social Services. There, she provided supportive and psychotherapeutic counseling, crisis intervention, and education and community referrals to people affected by HIV. Dedicated and thorough, she also has a strong background in quality and supervision. Prior to joining Summit Medical Group, Ms. Cummins Martinez was a Medical Social Worker at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth NJ, where she conducted assessments and implemented discharge plans for high-risk patients in conjunction with the medical team.
Ms. Cummins Martinez is bilingual in English and Spanish, and has lived and worked in Puerto Rico and Venezuela, the latter as a lay missioner. An active volunteer, she is involved in the multicultural and Hispanic ministries in her church and a local Domestic Violence Response Team.
When she is not working or volunteering, Ms. Cummins Martinez enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with her family.
