Laura Smith, MSW, LCSW has worked in a variety of settings within the healthcare environment. Ms. Smith has 25 years of experience in discharge planning for patients in the acute care hospital setting as well as the subacute and long term care environment. The first 11 years of Ms. Smith’s social work career were spent at the Division of Welfare in Newark. Most recently, she worked with the Division on Aging in Union County in the role as a health coach within the Care Transitions Program at an acute care hospital. Ms. Smith also conducted in-home assessments for seniors and their caregivers for the Statewide Respite Program within the Division on Aging.
Ms. Smith also has worked for several years at a nonprofit counseling agency providing psychotherapy for individuals and couples. Her warm and supportive manner helps clients to feel comfortable with the counseling process, and succeed in achieving their goals.
When not working, Ms. Smith enjoys reading and visiting family in Vermont.
