Before joining Summit Medical Group, Lori B. Elliot, MSN, RN, BSN, PMHNP-BC, DNP, was a psychiatric nurse practitioner for Vanguard Medical Group in Montville, Verona, and Cranford, New Jersey. Ms. Elliot also has been a psychiatric advanced practice nurse (nurse practitioner) for the Center for Family Guidance in both Marlton and Denville, New Jersey. In addition to being a consult liaison, she has practiced psychiatry in inpatient and outpatient settings. She previously worked with Samaritan Hospice of Marlton and Marlton Rehabilitation Hospital.
Ms. Elliot has delivered local and regional invited presentations on Compassion Fatigue, Traumatic Grief and Debriefing, Traumatic Grief and the Grief Process, and Life Care Planning.
Ms. Elliot says that her fascination with the resilient human spirit and enthusiasm for partnering with patients in their care sparked her interest in psychiatry. She notes, "I believe effective psychiatry requires listening carefully to my patients and empowering them to take control of their physical and mental health."
When she is not working with her patients, Ms. Elliot enjoys kayaking, cycling, traveling, and a mindful approach to life.
