Julius A. Gutman, MD, FACC, has expertise in web-based, home, and office pacemaker follow up, echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, atherosclerosis, and long-term management of valvular heart disease.
In addition to his position with Essex Heart Group / Summit Medical Group, Dr. Gutman is an attending physician at Hackensack University Medical Center (UMC) Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, New Jersey, and he is an attending physician at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.
Dr. Gutman has been a partner for GMP Cardiology (now Essex Heart Group) in Montclair, and he has been a partner for Montclair Medical Group. Before practicing privately in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Dr. Gutman was Assistant to the Director of Cardiology at Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey. He is Former Clinical Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Dr. Gutman has been Faculty Chief for the Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital Cardiology Education and Internal Medicine Residency Program and Chairman of the Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital Cardiology Division Peer Review Committee. He has been a member of the Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital Utilization Review Committee, Department of Medicine Executive Committee, Surgical Case Review Committee, Fair Hearing Physician Panel, and Crimson Initiative Clinical Data Team.
Dr. Gutman is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is the coauthor of articles and abstracts that are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Chest, Clinical Research, and Journal of the Medical Society of New Jersey.
Dr. Gutman is a recipient of the Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program Best Teacher Award.
When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Gutman enjoys listening to classical music and sailing on Long Island sound.
